Heavy Snowfall in North West Himalaya and Satellite Based Snow mapping

The 2019-20 winter season snowfall has started early in North India, with first major snowfall of the season reported in 07-08 November 2019, later major snow fall events were reported in mid November and December as well. The most recent snowfall of 07-08 Jan 2020 has covered many parts of North West Himalaya. This study highlights the use of satellite remote sensing and ground based observations for mapping and monitoring of snow cover.
