Changes in Turbidity along Ganga River amid Lockdown from Satellite Image
Recently, NEWS has come that the quality of Ganga River has improved during the lockdown from March 25, 2020, mainly the water is more clear and its turbidity has reduced. Due to changes in turbidity the reflectance in visible wavelength region changes, mainly the reflectance of the red band increases with an increase in turbidity and vice versa. Therefore, in this study, the changes in red band reflectance of high resolution Sentinel-2 multispectral data have been analyzed. It was observed that the red band reflectance has reduced throughout the stretch of the Ganga River indicating reduction in turbidity.
